CASE STUDY: ESIM GO

26 July 2024

Can you introduce eSIM Go and share your mission and vision?

Our vision is to become the world’s leading B2B2C provider of digital mobile connectivity. We offer a range of solutions to enable any business, from start-ups to global enterprises, to sell connectivity in a way that works for them.

The age of the plastic SIM card is coming to an end, and its digital replacement—eSIMs—removes barriers for innovators and brands to provide mobile services. We’re at the forefront of travel eSIMs, offering digital mobile data packages that allow consumers to use mobile data in different countries at far less cost than traditional roaming. We equip our partners to serve their customers with high-quality mobile data plans drawn from 1,000+ networks across 190+ countries.

We offer a full white-label API solution for those who wish to build their own global travel eSIM MVNO and work with the likes of Lufthansa Group, Western Union, and Uswitch to provide a travel eSIM offering unique to their brands. We also operate Breeze, an affiliate travel eSIM solution paying industry-leading commissions. Our flexible options help our partners focus on distribution and sales while we do all the heavy lifting.

Our mission is to make connectivity easy for everyone and open up the market so businesses can generate new revenue streams, boost loyalty, and solve the problems associated with data roaming quality and costs for their customers. We charge no setup fees, the platform is open access, simple to use, and some of our largest API partners have been operational within 48 hours of signing up.

What attracted eSIM Go to establish its operations on the Isle of Man?

The senior management team has decades of experience in the telecommunications industry. Several of the co-founders live here or have strong connections with the island, so it was a natural choice. There are also fantastic benefits to being based here, such as open access to the government and support from departments like Digital Isle of Man. We wouldn’t find that anywhere else in the world.

The island is well known for its reputation for innovation and as one of the best places to build a thriving tech business, demonstrated at the most recent Innovation Challenge.

And, of course, there’s the TT. We sponsor a local team and host an annual event during race week where we bring our partners and suppliers over. They love the whole TT experience, and we as a business also get huge value and enjoyment from it.

How has partnering with Digital Isle of Man supported and enhanced eSIM Go’s growth?

Being a part of Digital Isle of Man’s networking events has given us plenty of opportunities to connect with other like-minded tech companies and pioneers.

It’s a very collaborative and supportive atmosphere where we can discuss new ideas or concepts and strengthen our network.

We were also nominated as ‘Tech Business of the Year’ in Digital Isle of Man’s first Tech Awards in November 2024. This nomination supported our launch by promoting our idea and brand on the island.

Digital Isle of Man has also facilitated introductions to support our business growth—from inductions to payment providers to assisting with relocating employees through the immigration system.

What specific achievements or milestones has eSIM Go achieved since starting operations on the Isle of Man?

Since launching, we’ve empowered brands all over the world to bring eSIM connectivity to their customers. Significant achievements have included:

  • Gaining global recognition as the leaders in the travel B2B eSIM space.
  • Developing our own comprehensive tech stack and world-class API.
  • Launching a global affiliate programme under our brand, Breeze.

What do you enjoy most about doing business on the Isle of Man, and what are your future plans here?

The island is brimming with talent and expertise, with a world-class infrastructure that’s enabled us to generate huge success since our formation. When there are any challenges, being based here means there’s always plenty of support, both from the government and other businesses.

The island is also well connected to the UK, so we can easily visit our UK offices (in Oxfordshire and Dorset), attend events, and meet with partners from all over the world.

The business has some big ambitions to grow even more over the next 12 months. As part of this, we will be looking to recruit more into our local team to further position the Isle of Man as a true innovator in the telecommunications space.
