Virtual TT - Meet the Gamer: Darrell Grundy
02 June 2020
The fifth gamer taking part in the Virtual TT is Darrell Grundy from Winchester; a life-long TT fan. Darrell has is own YouTube gaming channel, DG Gaming Tips, which includes several top tip videos for improved play on Isle of Man TT: Ride on the Edge 2! His TT videos have racked up over 50,000 views, so he is definitely one player to watch out for!
Darrell is joining France's Julien Toniutti to form Team Five.
What excited you most about joining the Virtual TT competition?
Starring on TV alongside TT greats.
Did you know much about the Isle of Man or TT before you were asked to take part?
Yes - lifelong fan. Regularly watch it on TV. I attended the event last year (2019) in the Isle of Man.
Which part of the track did you find most difficult?
Ginger Hall to Parliament Square.
Who do you think is the one to beat (racer or gamer)?
Gamer - the art of the game is completely natural game controller mastery - with the exception of Davey Todd who is both a racer and a gamer, the other racers will presumably find using the controller difficult vs. what they achieve in real life.
Outside of TT, what is your go-to game and why?
Gran Turismo - car racing simulator perfection.
How did you get into gaming?
I was naturally drawn to it as soon as computers came out (since 1980) - it's entertaining and satisfies my competitive nature.
Darrell and Julien will be up fifth in the Virtual TT series. You can watch their race on Wednesday 10 June from 8pm BST at iomttraces.com or YouTube
Be sure to tune in from 7pm BST to enjoy the build up with the 'TT Lock-In' programme.
